Malick

Today's New York Times has a wonderful piece on Terrence Malick's newly crowned Palme d'or winner The Tree of Life. It is a glimpse into the methods of an astounding artist, one of America's all time greats, and one of the few directors who still views film as primarily an art form, a way to explore important themes, mysteries and truths.

Roger Ebert wrote an excellent philosophical analysis on The Tree of life.
I find his journal (blog) writing much more interesting and thought provoking than most of the film reviews he’s written in quite some time.
